| With your continuing cooperation and support, we have been steadily progressing and it s a matter of pride for Team Innova, that in a short span of less than 2 years, we could perform more than 2500 surgeries & interventions in children. As our workload is increasing, our team is also getting bigger & better. In this context, I feel that it is not an exaggeration if I say that our team in Pediatric Cardiac services is the probably largest in our country. I am happy to inform you that as expansion of our infrastructure, Homograft Valve Bank has been added to our facilities recently and it will be the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. It will be a boon to children suffering from certain types of congenital cardiac anomalies. To held children from other parts of the country, we started another unit "Om shanti Innova Pediatric Cardiac Centre" at Mumbai in association with Brahma Kumaris', a Spiritual organization. |
Heart Valve Bank(Homograft Valve Bank)
Homograft valve bank is a very useful armamentarium to the field of cardiac surgery especially pediatric cardiac specialty. The valves are taken from the deceased human beings, sterilized to be utilized in various corrective operations for certain types of congenital heart disease. |
| Human heart is retrieved from the suitable cadaver donors, after taking consent. The hearts are transported in sterile double bags over ice from the harvesting site to the homograft valve bank. The aortic and pulmonary valves are dissected from the heart in a sterile environment under laminar flow hood. The valves are examined from any fenestrations, calcification, atheroma and fatty streaks. Obturator is used to size the valve diameter and length. The dissected valves are kept immersed in Hanks balances Salt Solutions (HBSS) ad sterilized with cocktail of antibiotic solution. After establishing the valve sterility, the valves are kept under cold storage for future use and contaminated valves are discarded. They are also tested for HIV, HCV, HbS Ag Antigen, VDRL and Blood groups. Certain types of congenital cardiac anomalies where valves are stenotic or atretic, the homograft valves are used for the completion of the repairs. |

They are used in TOF Pulmonary Artesia, dTGA, VSD PS, CTGA, Truncus Arteriosus and ROSS procedures etc and acquired valvular heart diseases like Aortic Valve, Pulmonary Valve and Mitral Valve for the replacement.

| As an expansion of our services to reach children from other states. Om Shanti Innova Pediatric Cardiac Centre has been inaugurated on 25th January 2009 at BSES MG hospital, Andheri (W) Mumbai. This is a joint venture of Innova Children's Heart Hospital, Hyderabad and Spiritual Organization of Brahma Kumaris' from Mumbai. It is an incorporation of "Spirituality in modern medicine" to help these unfortunate children. |
